Booking Terms and Conditions

Bookings are subject to My Lakes Tour Booking Terms, which are based on the standard terms of the British Guild of Tourist Guides

1. Guide and operator
My Lakes Tour is operated by Jeff Appleyard, Cumbria Blue Badge Tourist Guide, a member of the Institute of Tourist Guiding, Guild of British Tourist Guides, Driver Guide Association and Cumbria Tourist Guides

2. Prices and what is included
The agreed guiding fee will be confirmed in writing before the booking is accepted. Unless otherwise stated, entrance fees, meals, refreshments, accommodation, ferry/cruise tickets and other third-party costs are not included.

3. Payment
Payment terms will be confirmed at the time of booking. For most private tours, payment is due in advance or as stated on the invoice.

4. Cancellations by you
10–5 days before the tour: 50% of the guiding fee will be refunded
4 days / 96 hours or less before the tour: 0% of the guiding fee will be refunded

5. Cancellations by me
If I am unable to provide the tour through illness, emergency or circumstances beyond my control, I will source a suitable alternative Cumbrian Blue Badge Guide or if no other guide is available, then I will offer a refund of any guiding fee paid.

6. Itinerary changes
Itineraries may need to be adapted because of weather, traffic, road closures, venue opening times, ferry/cruise availability, access restrictions or safety considerations.

7. Access and mobility
You should advise me in advance of any mobility, access or medical requirements relevant to the tour. I will do our best to adapt the itinerary, but some sites may involve uneven ground, steps, slopes or limited facilities.

8. Children
Children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult, in line with the Guild terms.

9. Recording and photography
No filming, videoing or audio recording of me guiding should take place without prior agreement. The Guild terms explicitly reserve the right for members to decline being filmed, videoed or recorded.

10. Insurance
I am a qualified Blue Badge Guides and hold public liability insurance through the British Guild of Tourist Guides. My guiding vehicle is insured for Private Hire which also includes public liability.

11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
